College baseball powerhouses LSU and Florida will meet in the championship final following Saturday’s wins over Oregon State and TCU, respectively at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.

The Tigers scored a 6-1 win over the top-seeded Beavers thanks in part to Michael Papierski’s three-run homer. The catcher would later homer again, becoming the first known player ever to home runs from each side of the plate in a College World Series game.

Florida, led by ace pitcher Alex Faedo, eliminated TCU with a 3-0 win. Faedo, who could be made available on short rest in Game 3 of the final (if necessary), allowed three hits and no runs through 7 1/3 innings, striking out 11.

The Tigers have won six national championships since 1991 while the Gators have yet to win one despite 11 appearances at the CWS.

Florida won the head to head regular season matchup, taking 2 of 3 from the Tigers in Gainesville in March and LSU will be without starting pitcher Eric Walker (forearm). Is this the year the Gators finally win it all?
